Elections held in the Town of Huntington are usually at Brewster-Pierce Memorial School, in the upper village (Huntington Center). Confirm the location with the Town Clerk for each specific election event. Polls are open 6:30 am to 7 pm. There are currently 1384 registered voters in the Town of Huntington. The voter checklist is posted in Huntington prior to the election, including in the Town Clerk's Office, Huntington Post Office, Brewster-Pierce School, Beaudry's and Jaques Stores in the Lower Village. Those not yet on the Voter Checklist can register to vote at the Town Clerk's Office until 5 pm on the Wednesday before any election to be eligible to vote in that election. REGISTERING TO VOTE: If you have just moved to Huntington, please be aware that you will not automatically be able to vote in this town just because you live here. You must change your voter registration to Huntington, filling out the appropriate form. This is easy to do. Call the office and we will mail one to you, or you can download it from the website by going to Documents and then elections. VOTE BY ABSENT VOTER BALLOT: You can email or call the office to have a ballot sent to you.You can also stop by the office and vote in person (Ballots are sealed by the voter and placed in a box in the town vault. Ballot are merged at the polls and run through the voting machine by two election workers. Your vote is confidential and anonymous.) Absent voter ballot requests must be made by 5 pm the day before the elections. (You cannot send in a family member or friend to pick up your ballot - by law, this must be done in person.) Your absent voter ballot must be returned by the time the polls close (7 pm on election day) in order to be counted. We make sure to check with the Huntington Post Office at 4 pm on election day and will go pick up any ballots that are at the post office; ballots received in the mail after the polls close cannot be counted.
