Come to a community potluck to learn about potential community agricultural uses, share ideas, and think about how we as a community might use this land to contribute to our local food system.
The Huntington Historical and Community Trust (HHCT) invites all Huntington community members to a potluck dinner on Friday, February 23rd from 6:00 - 8:30 at the Huntington Community Church Annex.
The Hanson field in the Lower Village will come up for sale in the near future, and it is stipulated that it remain open and in agricultural use. An HHCT subcommittee* has formed to explore potential community agricultural initiatives on the land, and work with the Keirs to transfer ownership from the Fuller House property to the community. Ideas include; community gardens, a farmer incubator program, use by area farmers to expand production, a multi-generational/service learning garden program, and more.
Please come to learn about the work of the HHCT toward this end and share ideas you have about how you would like to see the land used for agriculture.
Bring a dish to share: main course, salad, side dish or desert.
* Hanson Field Committee members: Amy Seidl, Heather Pembrook, Jim Fecteau, Becca Golden, and Jeanine Carr; also Duncan and Megs Keir.
